Chapter 12
I awakened hours later and smiled to see that I was still wrapped his arms. I looked around, and slowly realized that we were no longer at the hotel. He really did bring me to his house, but why? I slowly moved his arm and went to find the bathroom, which was right off the master bedroom we were in.
This bathroom was the size of my small living room, with dual sinks, and checkered tile flooring. It was such a lovely bathroom. I looked around at his enormous shower, and saw there was an actual marble bench inside, with multiple small water jets aligned on the wall. My eyes then widened at the huge showerhead in the center of the ceiling that would definitely get the job done by itself.
Who knew that there were so many options for something as basic as cleaning your body? All I’d ever seen was one showerhead, while living at home, and a communal shower at our rented house. But this was on a whole other level. Well good for him. I guess being a professor really did pay well.
Maybe I should have majored in education, instead of science and English. I emptied my bladder and washed my face, and saw a spare toothbrush he’d set on the counter for me, next to his. It was white and purple, and still in the plastic, and I smiled.
I brushed my teeth, and realized that I was practically naked. He must have undressed me last night, because I stood in front of the mirror in only my underwear. I walked back out of the bathroom, to see him still sleeping soundly. I then grabbed my purse, found my dress, and headed out of the room.
I walked down the long hall, passing many doors, then went down the stairs, and after two wrong turns, found the kitchen. It was a massive kitchen, with dual ovens, and a huge range stove. I loved that there was color in the kitchen, and not the typical stainless steel appliances. The cabinets were black with red handles, made with a shiny wood that I wasn’t familiar with. But it had an odd antique look to it, and I liked it.
I walked to the back door, and looked out the curtain. It was such a sunny day. I turned the knob, opening the door, and the alarm suddenly went off. The noise was so loud that I had to cover my ears. I quickly slammed the door closed, and began to pace the kitchen, with my ears covered.
I just didn’t know what to do, so I closed my eyes, and tried to zone the deafening sounds out.
The alarm was suddenly shut off, but the sound still rang in my ears, as I held my hands to my ears in a panic. I felt two hands grab my wrists and I screamed. “Baby, it’s okay, it’s me,” he murmured. I opened my eyes to see Thomas standing before me, concern etched all over his face.
